Stand back _______ back and we’ll see who’s tallest.

A. by                      B. in                       C. to                       D. with

My sisters don’t see eye _______ eye with me about the arrangements.

A. by                      B. in                       C. to                       D. with

Why not have it out with your critic, discuss the whole thing face _______ face?

A. by                      B. in                       C. to                       D. with

They fell into step, walking shoulder _______ shoulder with their heads bent against the rain.

A. by                      B. in                       C. to                       D. with

The lovers walked along the river bank, hand _______ hand.

A. by                      B. in                       C. to                       D. with

back to back 背靠背

face to face 面对面地

shoulder to shoulder 肩并肩

hand in hand 手拉手

1. back to back 背靠背,背对背

The children sat back to back so they couldn’t see each others’ drawings.

The team had to play three games back to back.

2. eye to eye

We didn’t exactly see eye to eye.

The two of them have never seen eye to eye on politics.

Jim and I have never seen eye to eye on this matter.

3. face to face 面对面

His ambition was to meet his favourite pop star face to face.

The two rival politicians were brought face to face in a TV interview.

Suddenly I found myself face to face with the young man.

The burglar turned the corner and found himself face to face with a policeman.
