(4) afraid 担心的;忧虑的

It is afraid that cheaper money might raise fresh inflation fears and drive interest rates right back up again, possibly causing a severe recession.

(5) alarming使人惊恐的;令人忧虑的;让人担心的

Consequently, it is not alarming that more of the personality factors did not significantly predict the value of voice.

If it was ever debatable that the dorm here is a pigsty, the question was settled when Mississippian Charlie Munford got permission from classmates to bring his pet to Deep Springs.

(23) decisive 决定性的;关键的

…; it is decisive that the psalmist’s enemies be shamed.

(24) despicable 卑鄙的;残酷的

It’s despicable that they’re going after the question of whether he served honorably.

(25) disconcerting  令人困惑的;令人尴尬的

It is disconcerting that businessmen believe procurement will remain a national affair.

(26) discouraging 令人失去信心的;使人气馁的;使人泄气的

It’s discouraging that she should author such flagrant propaganda in support of cannabis prohibition.

(27) dubious 无把握的;吃不准的

It’s highly dubious that there will be a particularly candid or helpful answer out of the White House, at this point.

(28) elementary 简单的;基本的

(31) exasperating 令人极其厌烦的;使人恼怒的

It was rather exasperating that the great and radical William Temple soft-pedalled.

(32) expedient 权宜之计的

If American schools are to become truly pluralistic, it is both necessary and expedient that researchers recognize the direct and indirect messages received from mainstream America and explore its impact upon the language socialization process of immigrants, African Americans, Latino Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and the poor.
